Play At Home:
Classical (around 1750 - 1800)
This short musical period ushers in the age of homophony and the new musical theories of Harmony. The decades of the Age of Enlightenment culminate in Classical musical forms and ideas created using the rules of clarity, simplicity and emotional control. The important sonata-allegro form is developed. Technological improvements in the production of instruments begin to give us the modern forms of the instruments we play today, most importantly, the new pianoforte. This is also the period of the American and French Revolutions.
